If I essentially have to buy a monthly package for storage, this isn't a lifetime deal.

I am really enjoying the product. I purchased it really to keep my from having to install openwebui. I am now hitting the file storage limit, surprised that it is only 10mb.
However when I go to upgrade, I am shocked at the monthly cost. By the time I pay for my tokens, if I were going to have to pay the $10 for monthly storage, I might as well have stayed with Chatgpt. When I have some bandwidth, I'm going to look for another ltd that is closer to an LTD

I knew I exceeded my storage but didn't consider it would also affect my local desktop app which inexplicably logged me out and when trying to log back in refused to sync so I lost my data. The problem with the storage limit is that it even affects your desktop app. I just discovered BoltAi and will be moving everything over as it does allow you to sync via iCloud or Google Drive and will revisit Typing Mind at some stage and see if there is any improvement. At the moment I'm feeling conned with this lifetime version.

I can only agree here. I constantly reached the limitation, and it renders the whole app useless to me. I otherwise really enjoy the app but can’t recommend it and will need to look for alternatives. It’s on top of the wishlist but no indication from the developer that it will be implemented besides everyone requesting it.

There are other apps.. take a look at Msty studio. Haven’t played with it in depth but looks promising

Jeremy Juan I actually just installed TypingMind as self-hosted. So it's running on a DigitalOcean server for $4 a month that is a VPS with unlimited drive space. I was paying for that virtual server for a couple other projects. It really, I mean, truly hasn't cost me anything from a hosting perspective. I'm looking at Librechat VS openwebui again. Lots of possibilities there, but not as tightly integrated as TM.

cork how can you run itself host? Is it easy to do?
Simon Oakes
Stephan Fischer its a self contained app, very easy to host yourself but even then, you still have to pay for "their" storage.

kevin corkum So if you self host the app it eliminates the the need for using their storage? Are you Teams?

Bill Hood No, sadly not. I edited my original response for Clarity. While the typing mind is on a server with unlimited storage, the errors that occur are the result of synchronizing. So, I do get errors when I'm uploading documents to a chat that they're not synchronized anywhere but my local existence, which is fine. The downside is I don't get to use Typing Minds, Built-In Knowledge Base. I think I will just build an MCP connection to something like a vector database and do it that way. After having done a bunch more research, I haven't seen anybody provide built-in knowledge bases for free. Even OpenAI is charging approximately $3.30 per gig per month.
